What is VeeCon?
VeeCon was the first multi-day NFT superconference held in Minneapolis, USA in May 2022. The event was the brainchild of serial entrepreneur and all-round good guy Gary Vaynerchuk. Attendees were treated to an extraordinary lineup of content including iconic keynote speeches; innovative and educational talks, panels and Q&A sessions; and many ‘collaborative experiences’.
The event was held at the huge and very impressive U.S. Bank Stadium and attended by over 10,000 NFT ticket holders as well as a host of celebrities including Snoop Dog, Pharrel Williams, Mila Kunis, Eva Longoria and Deepak Chopra.
Why were we involved?
Chris had planned on attending the event himself as a delegate, but when one of our clients contacted us to attend and film ‘highlights’ from the event we took the opportunity to get the kit on the plane and get out there!
While onsite we also ended up filming for organisations such as LØCI, Teif Moreaux and VeeCon official, alongside our filming for EMC3.
Wilson, our in house video editor/videographer headed up the filming and execution of all of the content captured at the event. He liaised with the client and immersed himself in the thick of it all, capturing content left, right and centre. He was filming speaker discussions, behind the scenes of the speakers getting ready to go on stage, general atmospheric shots of the attendees enjoying themselves and also of the overall event.
Thoughts on VeeCon
We caught up with Rachel, content and event producer at EMC3 (pictured with Wilson above) to talk to her about her experience at the first VeeCon event.
“VeeCon, the ‘unconference’ was definitely a good mix between conference and being at a gig which makes it really interesting. My personal highlights had to be seeing us on the broadcast screen, that was cool and also meeting and getting to speak to Gary Vee, the man behind it all! It was also challenging with the long hours but working with Oxford Media Factory has made it all worth it as we wouldn’t have been able to get the content that we have, so a massive thank you to the team.”
Wilson, our videographer, also told us about how he found navigating the energy and atmosphere of VeeCon when he flew back to the UK.
“VeeCon was hard work but it was nice to see so many people, companies and freelancers all on the same mission, all mucking in to help out. There was a real buzz behind the scenes, none of us knew what to expect as it was the first year of VeeCon so there was an air of anticipation but it made it all the more exciting.
My personal highlights have to include the energy of the welcome party on Thursday night, people just coming up to me and chatting about the camera kit and the event, it was a really good vibe all day. It was a late night as we all stayed up editing and discussing the footage we got from the day, and then we got to watch the dry run of the whole show. It was amazing to just sit back and take it all in. It was also my first time in the US and the weather was insane! We got caught in a huge hail storm, and then it was bright and sunny the next minute! Another day we got to sit and watch the live acts after a day of filming…those moments really shaped the whole experience for me.”
